Statement of Faith

What We Believe at Sovereign Grace Community Church -
Holy Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and sufficient Word of God. It is our final authority for all doctrine, worship, and life. Through Scripture, God reveals His character, His purposes, and His plan of salvation, and governs His church with clarity and truth.
God and the Holy Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in deity, power, and glory. God is perfect in holiness, sovereign in all His works, and worthy of all worship, obedience, and love.
Creation and Providence
We believe God created all things out of nothing and made humanity in His image, male and female, to know Him and reflect His glory. God upholds and governs all things according to His wise and holy providence, accomplishing His purposes without violating human responsibility.
Humanity and the Fall
We believe humanity was created upright, but through Adam’s sin fell into guilt, corruption, and spiritual death. All people are sinners by nature and by choice, unable to save themselves and deserving of God’s just judgment.
God’s Eternal Purpose
We believe God, from eternity, graciously purposed to save a people for Himself. His sovereign election is perfectly consistent with human responsibility, excludes all boasting, and produces humility, worship, and assurance.
Christ the Mediator
We believe Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, is the only Mediator between God and humanity. He lived in perfect obedience, died as a substitute for sinners, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and reigns as Lord. His work alone secures salvation for His people.
Salvation by Grace
We believe salvation is entirely of God’s grace. God calls, regenerates, justifies, adopts, sanctifies, and preserves His people. We contribute nothing to our salvation except the sin that made it necessary.
Regeneration, Repentance, and Faith
We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates spiritually dead sinners, granting a new heart and new desires. Regeneration produces repentance — turning from sin — and faith — trusting Christ alone as Savior, Lord, and Treasure.
Justification
We believe God declares believers righteous solely because of Christ’s obedience and sacrifice, credited to them through faith. Justification is complete, irreversible, and grounded in Christ alone.
Adoption
We believe God adopts believers as His children, giving them His name, His Spirit, and the full rights of sons and daughters.
Sanctification
We believe sanctification is the lifelong work of God by which believers are progressively conformed to the image of Christ. Through the Spirit, the Word, prayer, fellowship, and obedience, Christians grow in holiness and love.
Perseverance of the Saints
We believe all true believers will persevere in faith until the end. God keeps His people by His power, and their enduring attachment to Christ is the evidence of genuine salvation.
The Church
We believe a visible church is a congregation of baptized believers united by covenant in the gospel, governed by Christ’s commands, and committed to worship, discipleship, fellowship, discipline, and mission. Christ appoints elders to shepherd and deacons to serve.
Baptism
We believe baptism is the immersion of believers in water as a sign of union with Christ, the forgiveness of sins, and new life. Baptism is a public profession of faith and entrance into the fellowship of the local church.
The Lord’s Supper
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of Christ’s death, a renewal of our fellowship with Him and one another, and a proclamation of His return. Believers partake with reverence, self-examination, and joy.
The Christian Life
We believe Christians are called to live in obedience, love, holiness, and service. By the Spirit’s power, believers pursue good works, fight sin, and display the character of Christ in every sphere of life.
The Lord’s Day
We believe the first day of the week is the Lord’s Day, set apart for worship, rest, fellowship, and devotion to the means of grace.
Marriage and Family
We believe marriage is the covenant union of one man and one woman, designed by God for companionship, holiness, and the raising of children. Families are to be nurtured in the fear and instruction of the Lord.
Civil Government
We believe God appoints civil authorities for justice and order. Christians should honor, pray for, and obey them unless commanded to sin, for Christ alone is Lord of the conscience.
The Last Things

We believe Christ will return bodily to judge the living and the dead. God will raise all people — the redeemed to everlasting joy, and the unrepentant to everlasting punishment. God will make all things new, and His people will dwell with Him forever.
